On behalf of our Board of Directors, I am delighted to announce that Kevin R. Goldthorp will be joining our team as President & Chief Executive Officer of the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation on April 19, 2023. Following an exhaustive search process with clearly-defined criteria, Kevin emerged as the unanimous choice of the search committee to lead St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation forward.

Kevin’s career as a philanthropic leader is rooted in deep and meaningful commitment to the donors and volunteers with whom he works, and the mission of the organization he represents. Throughout Kevin’s 30-year career in development, he has demonstrated a mission-driven commitment to bettering the health and wellbeing of all members of our community. His passion for fostering a community to bring together donors and clinical/academic staff to create innovation will truly make a difference for the patients and families who rely on St. Michael’s Hospital and Providence Healthcare.

Kevin joins us from SickKids Foundation where he was President and Chief Development Officer, leading the hospital’s historic $1.5 billion SickKids VS Limits campaign. His role at SickKids included leadership of the major individual giving, gift planning and stewardship and donor relations portfolios. He is also recognized at SickKids for leadership in building a diverse, inclusive and equitable culture.

Kevin has extensive strategic insight, fundraising campaign and institutional branding and marketing experience that the Board believes will aid St. Michael’s Foundation and Unity Health Toronto in advancing fundraising efforts. He will closely engage with volunteer and academic leadership to achieve our vision for the impact that can be achieved through philanthropy at St. Michael’s. Past roles as CEO for Sinai Health Foundation, Executive Vice President, Advancement & Marketing, Sinai Health System, and CEO at Sunnybrook Foundation allow Kevin to bring to St. Michael’s a nuanced and respectful understanding of academic health system marketing and public engagement in our mission.

Kevin holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from Trinity College both at the University of Toronto, along with professional education credentials from Stanford and Harvard universities.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Luckson Zireva, Chief Operating Officer, who has been acting as Interim President, and to Robin Fowler, Vice President, Philanthropy, Strategy and Campaigns. They have demonstrated exemplary leadership of and dedication to the Foundation in managing internal and external relationships as we conducted this comprehensive search process.
