On October 22, six teams of St. Michael’s Hospital’s top scientists pitched their groundbreaking ideas to judges, jurors, and a packed house at Koerner Hall.
What began as a bold idea to champion Canadian science has grown into a movement—empowering St. Michael’s researchers to redefine healthcare.
Congratulations to our 2025 Angels Den winners. Dr. Warren Lee and Eno Hysi, PhD took home the Keenan Award for Medical Discovery for their world-first technology using light and sound to detect a life-threatening lung condition.
Dr. Monica Farcas and Dr. Jeffrey Perl won the Mitchell Award for Health System Innovation and the Canada Life People’s Choice Award for their device that clears blocked home dialysis catheters—quickly, safely, and without surgery—helping patients stay home.
Thanks to the E. & G. Odette Momentum Awards, the remaining four Angels Den teams earned critical funding to take their breakthroughs to the next level.
And thanks to Rock with Love, Kelsie Thu, PhD earned the Sarah McComb Award for Cancer Research for her groundbreaking cancer therapy that helps the immune system target and attack tumours.
